In 2012, the marriage between Nollywood actress, Sophia Chikere and movie director Tchidi Chikere, reportedly crashed like a pack of badly arranged cards. But long before the crash, there were several reports, that another actress, Nuella Njubigbo, was dating the movie director. In fact, some reports openly suggested Nuella was the reason Tchidi sent Sophia packing.

Since then, rumours were rife that both Tchidi and Nuella found another haven in each other’s arms until a couple of days back when the news broke that Tchidi would be having a traditional marriage with Nuella on Friday, March 28, 2014, two days ago. From all available information the wedding held and both Nuella and Tchidi are now husband and wife.

As true as that is, no one ever believed the director was actually going to marry Nuella because reports of their romance were something people received with levity and oftentimes, like a joke, that could only amuse and be forgotten. So, when the news of their impending marriage broke, it was received like another joke, especially, when the two parties involved,  neither came out to deny nor confirm anything.

Until the silence was broken by Nuella on Thursday in a release sent to several media houses. She confirmed that she would indeed, be getting married to the movie director, saying she and Tchidi never crossed the lines as friends and that the talk about her being pregnant for Tchidi was mere rumour.

“My heart is remarkably at peace with this decision, and I am willing to take this leap of faith which every married woman has taken. Where this love will lead me I cannot say, I am not God, but, I have hope, faith and believe that it will lead me to a good place. Every one of us in this life deserves a chance to be happy. I am taking my own chance” she said.

But there was someone who found all she said not only distasteful but a whole lot of baloney. That person is Sophia Chikere, who has claimed she is still legally married to the movie director.

Nuella released her statement on Thursday night and Sophia was quick to follow Friday morning. Hear her: I swear with my life, my children’s life and everything I have, that Nuella started dating my husband before he left the marriage. But because I respect my husband a lot, the father of my three boys, I have kept calm and won’t talk and comment because there is no need to wash your dirty linen in public. Tchidi is a wonderful husband and father and will always be.

But if Nuella opened her mouth and said that she wasn’t dating my husband before he left the marriage, if she’s lying, let her not see anything good in life and if I’m lying,let me not see anything good in life.

This question is for Nuella: Nuella, since you broke my marriage, have I called you? Have I looked for you? No! After what you did, you still have the right to lie and say you were not in the picture? You want to deceive the public? But you can’t deceive God. You put what God has joined together asunder and made my children cry to bed every night.

I keep calm and you have the audacity to say that you weren’t dating my husband when we were together? Let the wrath of God be your portion. Now that you have taken my hubby and you are getting married to him like I heard, are you happy? Are you fulfilled? Let the Almighty God fight for me and judge you.

Let vengeance be of God who knows everything and sees everything. My God is able and he’s not asleep. He sees. He knows. And he feels what I feel. He is the Lord who cares for me and my kids.
As for my husband, he is a wonderful father and I will never ever disrespect him”

Shocking before and after photo of victim rescued from Oyo ritualists??? den (LOOK)

The discovery of the “house of horror” in Ibadan, the Oyo capital, was made even more horrifying because of the state the survivors were found in.
The barely alive victims were malnourished and skeletal as one of them stated that they were fed only once a week.
Cecilia Obaikhena is one of such and she left many visitors to the gory scene spellbound at her tale.
Mrs. Obaikhena went missing from Edo State since 2008, meaning she has spent a total of 6 years in captivity.
Unfortunately however, it seems she has gone missing again as her family members who arrived Ibadan from Lagos to take her with them have searched to no avail.
Reports have it that Mrs. Obaikhena was allowed to walk out of the ritualists’ den unaided despite the traumatic experience she had just survived.

When they got the news of the discovery of a kidnappers’ den in Ibadan and saw the picture of their long-lost mother and grandmother on the cover of the Sunday Tribune, 
they were elated. Pronto Victor and Vivian, son and granddaughter respectively, of Cecilia Obaikhena, who was one of the inmates freed from the den, rushed down to Ibadan from their Lagos base to take their matriarch back home.
They got to Ibadan on Tuesday and headed for Soka area where the den was discovered. They searched everywhere for their matriarch but she was no where to be found.
They were advised to go to the State Hospital at Yemetu, where some of the inmates were taken. So, they headed for the place but it was futile because Mrs Cecilia Obaikhena was not among the patients in the hospital.
Determined to see their mother/grandmother, they toured all the police stations in the vicinity clutching the pictures of their matriarch as well as a copy of the Sunday Tribune but tried as much as they did, they could not locate Mrs Obaikhena.
So, they headed for the Tribune House at Imalefalafia to see if they could find help.
Explaining how the woman disappeared, Vivian said the old woman in 2008, went to the market where she was residing in Iruekpen, Edo State, but she never returned home. She said they went searching for her at police stations, and made announcements on media houses, including NTA Iruekpen, but their efforts brought no success.
“Since 2008, we have been looking for her,” Vivian said.
Narrating how they got to know about the kidnappers’ den, Vivian said, “On Monday, I was browsing with my phone when I came across the Ibadan House of Horror story on a blog. Immediately, I saw the picture of one of the victims and I recognized her as our long lost granny, then I left for Ibadan and came in company with my uncle who is her son.”
Voicing their frustration at the futility of their effort to find the woman, Vivian said, she noted through the by-line that the photograph of the old woman was exclusive to the Nigerian Tribune, hence their visit to the Tribune House to make enquiries as to the exact time and location of the woman, when the photograph was taken.
“How could a woman who was found on Saturday have disappeared almost without a trace on Tuesday?” Vivian lamented.
Our photographer, who was at the site to cover the discovery on Saturday, said around 8.00pm he happened on the scene where the old woman in question, was being trailed by a small crowd as she was slowly walking away from the den while regaling the crowd with the story of how she was abducted in Edo State in 2008.
“It was her story that made me to pause to take her picture. As I left the woman and the crowd, I heard some people express their concern about how the woman would cope knowing no one in Ibadan as she continued her slow walk into the dark night.”
So, for the relations of Cecilia Obhaghene, the search for their matriarch continues.

Were your father to be alive, would he have supported this?

I think my father, the late MKO Abiola, would have supported me and would have been quite tickled by the whole thing. He loved proverbs and music; therefore, what I am doing is not strange. He loved to sing and was in a band. He often sang at weddings and as a school boy in Abeokuta. I have fond memories of him singing, “The Beatles” songs in the kitchen. This must have been a relic from the time when he was studying to become an accountant in Scotland. I am not relying on my family name to gain acceptance. Many people have known me on the music circuit for a year now and don’t even know my family background. It is something I never bring up and this is the first time I’m discussing it in an interview. I am proud of whom I am but as I don’t want to trade on it, I simply never mention it. I’m not very comfortable discussing it, even now.

Egypt Court Sentences 528 Muslim Brotherhood Supporters to Death

An Egyptian court has sentenced at least 528 members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood to death on Monday, March 24 2014.

Most were arrested during clashes which erupted in the southern province of Minya after the forced dispersal of two Muslim Brotherhood protest camps in Cairo on August 14. These members were convicted of charges including violence, inciting murder, storming a police station, attacking persons and damaging public and private property.

This group of 528 is among over 1,200 supporters of  Islamist ex-president, Mohammed Morsi on trial, including senior members  of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Those convicted are expected to appeal. The verdict will be passed on to the Grand Mufti (a senior Islamic scholar), Egypt’s supreme religious authority, for approval or rejection. The final trial session will be conducted on 28 April.

Ever since Mr Morsi was ousted by the military last July, Egyptian authorities have cracked down fiercely on Islamists. Multitudes have been arrested and killed.

The Brotherhood has been declared a terrorist organization and authorities have punished any public show of support for it.

A second group of 700 Morsi supporters is due to go on trial on Tuesday.

Army Officer Shoots Worker Dead At Dangote Cement Factory, Gboko, Benue State

Violence broke out today, Tuesday at Dangote Cement Factory in Gboko, Benue State. One of the worker was said to have stolen a spare tyre and was caught by the army. When his colleagues tried to get him off the hook, an angry soldier shot the young man and killed him instantly.

The incident has triggered a riot with shelling of gun fire. An eye witness said he saw two dead bodies and one seriously injured victim.

The Cement Factory is now locked down with staff are trapped inside the premises stranded.

It will be recalled that there was a similar incident last year that claimed thirteen lives and over one hundred trucks.

D’banj has revealed that his father is not happy about his music career. Even though the Nigerian star enjoyed international success with his 2012 smash hit Oliver Twist and has sold over 11 million albums in his career, he revealed that his dad remains concerned that a career in music isn’t sustainable.

“’Don’t do music’ is what my father told me,” D’banj told The Voice. “Even now, he says to me: ‘Are you sure this music thing is right for you?’”

Asked what career path his father would have preferred for him, D’banj, who released his first hit Tongolo in 2004, said: “Any other thing apart from music! My father is so quiet and reserved, whereas music puts you right out there.

“He knows that fame can destroy things and he worries about me sustaining success. “He also says: ‘When I was your age, I was married and I already had you! When are you going to settle down?’’

Still, the singer-songwriter says that settling down isn’t part of his immediate plan.
“I think I want to get a Grammy first! But if an angel should pass, I might just be distracted!”

Pastor Confesses Adultery In Church To Congregation, Then Drops Dead

A Connecticut pastor seeking to cleanse his soul for a long-past infidelity met fire and brimstone, then forgiveness from his flock before reportedly keeling over from a suspected heart attack.

Bishop Bobby Davis, pastor and founder of the Miracle Faith World Outreach Church in Bridgeport, kept parishioners after services Sunday, saying he wanted to come clean about an apparent affair he'd had, one congregant told the Connecticut Post. Although police are investigating the incident, indications are that he suffered a fatal heart attack after getting a mixed response.

"After the service on Sunday, the bishop's family asked us to remain in the church and the bishop confessed to us something that happened long ago," parishioner Judy Stovall told the newspaper. "He wanted to come clean with all of us. He wanted to ask our forgiveness."

Davis, who served as pastor since the church was founded in 1967, reportedly dropped to the floor during the screaming.

"We were shouting, `We forgive you, we love you,' but the stress of all of it -- he had a heart attack," Stovall told the paper. "I held his head as he lay on the floor ... Our congregation is hurting now."

Davis, of Monroe, founded the church with his wife, Christine. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last June, the newspaper reported.

Davis was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital. The cause of death is still under investigation, according to police sources who spoke to the newspaper.

The official cause of death is still being determined, according to the Office of the State Medical Examiner. Police spokesman William Kaempffer told the paper that a detective has been assigned to the case. "The circumstances are under investigation," he said.

The Christian Post cited an unidentified church member who said the bishop did not decide to come clean on his own. The member said Davis confessed to his wife earlier, and she insisted that he tell congregants, The Christian Post reported. The revelation triggered outrage from Davis'' children, who "got physical," the outlet reported.

Police have interviewed dozens of witnesses and are reportedly reviewing video from inside the church that was taken by a member.

Kidnappers demand N500m ransom to free Pres. Jonathan's uncle

Abductors of Inengite Nitabai, the 70-year old uncle of President Goodluck Jonathan, have demanded a N500m ransom, Sahara Reporters report.

A security source said that the abductors threatened to kill him if the family fails to produce the money. The source also said the family had constituted a committee to evaluate the demand, establish negotiations with the abductors and facilitate his release.

He said the kidnappers had also warned against the involvement of security operatives in the matter.
"The kidnappers contacted the family four days after and demanded a whopping sum of N500m. It is believed that the family of the victim has begun negotiations with the hoodlums," he said.


Tension and panic set in when the kidnappers failed to establish any contact with the family of their victim three days after he was abducted.

That development was said to have rattled the Presidency, which reportedly ordered a massive deployment of security in Otuoke, the hometown of the Jonathans, and the Niger Delta creeks.
The gunmen abducted Nitabai on Sunday after collecting about N400,000 from his wife.

15-Year-Old Boy Exchanged For 2 Bags Of Rice In Lagos (PHOTO) - Violent/Disgusting Non-Celebrity Crimes

A yet to be identified man on Monday successfully traded a 15-year old boy, Seun Aderinwale, for two bags of rice valued at N20,000 at Igando in Alimosho area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

According to eyewitness account, the man, whose address is unknown, went to 4, Ifesowapo Street, Igando, on Monday morning to buy two bags of rice from a shop owned by a woman identified as Iya Ibrahim.

The rice seller was not available at the time but her son, Ibrahim, agreed to the man’s proposal to drop Seun, an Aluminium apprentice, as collateral, in order to collect the two bags of rice and return later to pay.

However, when the shop owner returned in the afternoon, she was surprised to see Seun who was dropped there in exchange for the two bags of rice taken away by the unidentified man.

When the man failed to return, the 15-year old was held hostage until evening when the pastor of his church, a Celestial Church of Christ around the area, saw him at the shop looking despondent.

When Seun was questioned on how he came about the fraudster, he said he met him casually at Hotel Bus

Stop about 300 metres to his residence where a church member had sent him on an errand to play lotto, popularly known as “Baba Ijebu”.

Seun said he did not know the man’s house or have other information about him.

The teenager later regained his freedom when the Celestial Church pastor, known simply as Oluso in the neighborhood, settled the matter with Iya Ibrahim, the rice seller.

He said the woman should take responsibility for one of the stolen bags of rice while Seun’s father, a co-worker with him in the church, should pay for the other bag of rice when he returned from his trip to Ifo in Ogun State. Seun’s father agreed to pay N10,000 for the bag of rice when he returned from Ifo.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the rice seller agreed to the pastor’s proposal and did not report the matter to the police.

“If I report the incident to the police, I cannot leave the station without spending money. Therefore, it is better for me to accept the proposal by Oluso, the rice seller told residents who gathered in front of her shop to watch the drama.

When Ibrahim was questioned why he allowed such an unusual arrangement, he told residents that the conman asked for two and half bags of rice, adding, “when the motorcycle was about to go with the two bags, I asked for the money but Seun assured me he was coming back for the half bag. He even claimed to be a close relation of the man.”

However, some hours after the man had disappeared and failed to return, Ibrahim said Seun retracted his earlier statement, saying he did not know the man.
